September 13th - An Introduction to Social Enterprise

Basic information for those wanting to consider or start a social enterprise, a charitable trading activity, or similar income generating activity

September 27th - Basic Monitoring and Evaluation

 

For those organisations needing to report to funders, demonstrate their impact, or to engage with stakeholders.

 October 11th - An Introduction to Project Management 

For those new to project management, wanting to formalise current projects, or needing more structure to their project.

October 25th - Quality Systems and Standards.

 

Identify the different types of quality standards / quality assurance systems, and how these can help improve the effectiveness of your organisation

 8th November - Janet and John Manage a Website. 

Aimed at all organisations with a website but currently without anyone who can understand, update, or service it.

 22nd November - Business Plans for Beginners 

Provides an introduction to the layout and completion of the information needed for a business plan, business development plan, project plan, or fundraising plan

All Courses will be held at Honeycroft's Training Rooms Sackville Road - Number 5 (and A and B) bus stops outside - 5 minutes walk from Hove Station - Vegetarian lunch provided.

 

Free bursaries for residents from Whitehawk and Manor Farm, Bristol Estate, and Brunswick and Regency (number limited per course - please enquire).

An Introduction to Social Enterprise -Workshop Aim

To provide a basic understanding of the term Social Enterprise, to look at the different legal formats it can take, consider the legal requirements in relation to trading and service sales, and to enable an informed decision to be made if such a venture is right for you or your organisation.

Aimed at: Management Committees, Board Members ,Senior Management and interested staff in the Voluntary and Community Sector or interested officers in the statutory sector.


Basic Monitoring and Evaluation - Workshop Aim - To offer an introduction in monitoring and evaluation that organisations can implement to meet the needs of funders, engage with stakeholders, or to demonstrate the effectiveness of their work.

An introduction to Project Management - Workshop Aim - To provide an introduction to project management techniques. You should attend if you are new to project management, or want to formalise your current project, if you need more structure to your project and if you want to demonstrate your outcomes to funders and stakeholders

 Workshop outcomes: - Delegates will gain an understanding of· - What is a project?  Who are the players - ·What are project stages?· - Where do I start?·-Appropriate project documentation· Risk and quality management· Appropriate control procedures· Monitoring and evaluation· How to close a project - The need for a post-project review.

Quality Systems and Standards - Workshop Aim tol enable delegates to consider the different types of quality standards / quality assurance systems, how these can help improve the effectiveness of your organisation and the satisfaction of staff, volunteers and users, and provide a clear focus for the development of your organisations

Outcomes - Understand the difference between quality assurance systems and quality standards Gain an overview of the various QA systems and standards Gain a more in depth understanding of a quality assurance system - PQASSO

Janet and John Manage a Website - Workshop Aim to enable groups and organisations that have a website but no longer have someone who understands or can manage it to update and change it, and to upload documents to it. The day will cover how to update and improve the site, how to upload documents to it, and how to get the best out of it. All in simple and understandable language. Where possible work will be carried out directly on the students own site.

Business Plans for Beginners - Workshop Aim to provide a simple insight into the contents and layout of a basic business plan. The day will provide all the information needed to produce a business plan, development plan, fundraising plan or similar document.
